5 Minute Assignments
Okay so before I put the rest of this in, I have no recollection of what event this was about. So sorry, its just here. Forgetful me didn't write it down.
Terrorism is all around us, however the use of the word honestly has been overused. There is a difference between the word Terrorism, fear mongering, and acts of violence. This, was more-so an act of violence. Yes, it had connections with known terrorists, but there was no terrorism in this act. It was a lone man, acting on his own intentions. This was just an act of violence that just so happened to been an Islamic. Now, this incident just happened to of happened during a string of similar incidents worldwide.

Drugs. Now, in the past I’ve always been against drugs. Anything that could be a harmful drug (Marijuana doesn't count IMO). The reasoning behind this is I lost my grandfather to cancer, and a drug overdose. It hit me really close to home and it wasn’t something I was prepared for in 8th grade all that time ago. He was a drug dealer, he hadn’t worked a job in 30 years, but he provided regardless. That’d be impressive, if it wasn’t for the fact the drugs scared his whole family away. He ended up dying a lonely old man in a hospital. His family had not wanted to see him for 20 years, not even his own daughter. She was too scared to bring her son around him for fear the cops would raid the house. It’s impressive that he could provide that long, but in the end, was it worth it? Was it worth not seeing most of your family for half of your life just so you could deal drugs and making a killing off of it?
News Sources these days are completely inaccurate! Since 24 hours media exists they have to find a LOT of information to fill the time, and even worse, most news outlets only cover MAJOR events that are important to us. They never will cover something major that doesn’t apply to us. News sources typically also don’t do a lot of research to back up what they say, they just do a little research and then talk about it for half an hour. It’s because of all this, that typical TV news outlets are just time wasters. Even news websites are like this, they need so many articles a day and so many views to ad revenue to keep running, so they do similar things, though at least they are more worthwhile than Channel 3 talking about how a dog is stuck in a tree in France and ISIS is working to get them out of said tree. When in reality it’s just a dog stuck in a tree in Seattle and the firefighters are working to get them out of it. Big difference there.
Two free years of community college? It sounds like a good idea in concept, however the only thing that makes me wonder at first, what happens to existing community college classes? Do they get forgotten about? Besides that, it sounds like a good(ish) idea. Most of the people who go to a community college, do it because it’s cheap. So this is reinforcing that ideology. It isn’t such a bad thing, but as a result the community colleges might go into some financial troubles, or overcrowding depending on how many people react to this. Imagine if Sinclair’s population doubled today? That would be a really bad thing. Though it’d also be a good thing (of course), more education is always better. But on the flipside, you’d have people going to community college, and then dropping out after those two years just because it’s free. All of that could prove to be a pain for everyone. It’s a GOOD idea, but it’s just not thought out enough.
